24 HOURS IN BRIGHTON.

Right before lockdown struck, my lovely friend Alex whisked me away for 24 hours in Brighton. And with lockdown slowing everything down, I thought it might aid in some much needed escapism to share what we got up to.

WHERE TO STAY.

Alex was a sneaky Sally and arranged a gifted stay with Artist Residence - one of my favourite hotel chains in the UK. Having stayed in a few of their other hotels, I knew it would be wonderful; but this one truly blew me away. Being by the sea really is the best tonic, and this hotel room certainly comes with a cracking view.Set back from the sea, in a gorgeous courtyard (right opposite a very handy underground carpark!), is Artist Residence. It's a windy entrance being on the seafront, but behind closed doors is calm, cosy and cool. Local artists' work is displayed on the walls throughout. And there are plenty of comfy nooks to grab a cup of tea and look out to sea.  Our room was so lovely, and both (!) bay windows boasted the most epic view. Waking up the next morning and looking out the window made my heart incredibly happy.

WHAT TO EAT.

We arrived and were absolutely starving. Halfway between lunch and dinner we weren't feeling fussy, but wanted to get out an explore before sundown. As soon as I walked past Franco Manca I let out a little yelp. Sure, it's a chain. And perhaps you'll be looking for something a little more unique when visiting - but Franco's pizza always hits the mark. It's quick, simple and super tasty. And nestled so close to the lanes it's the perfect pick me up feast. Plus, their apple juice is delicious.For breakfast we headed to Moksha Caffe. With a gorgeous selection of brunch options, we both had eggs and shared a ginormous plate of pancakes, too. Because: Holiday. The portions were super generous and freshly made to order.Scrumptious and spacious.

WHERE TO VISIT.

Being in the midst of a pandemic, we didn't want to do too much. So after breakfast we meandered down to the lanes, rummaged through some vintage goodies at Snoopers Paradise, and of course took advantage of the Photo Booth inside.And on the 20 minute walk back to the hotel, I dragged Alex onto the blustery beach to breathe in that sea air and take a few minutes of calm before the drive home. Sometimes a little, is a lot.I'm so grateful to Alex for taking me away, and to Artist Residence for hosting us in such a beautiful spot.I hope we'll all be able to explore safely again soon.
