Jo Malone Dark Amber & Ginger Lily Cologne Intense Candle

Candles = my obsession. There is nothing I love more than coming home from work and lighting a few around the house. Not only does it make everything smell amazing, it instantly relaxes my mood and creates a warm, cosy atmosphere.

Of late, I’ve been feeling really quite down. I can’t pin it to one thing, but life’s just been a bit odd recently and thrown a few challenges my way which I’m finding quite difficult to manage. And I know it sounds a bit silly, but Jo Malone and this candle have actually been my saving grace. Every Thursday I have a ‘me evening’ where I have a little pamper to relax and this candle has been at the center of it all. The fragrance is just another level – it’s cologne intense, including scents of amber, black orchid, ginger, water lily and black cardamom.

Seriously guys if a candle can be sexy, that’s exactly what this is - it’s woody, musky, luxurious, deep and is quite frankly the best thing I’ve ever smelt. It’s a lot of money to spend on something that essentially isn’t a necessity but I’ll 100% be repurchasing it. My lovely aunty bought it for Daniel and I as a housewarming gift (but to be fair, it’s obviously mine ;)), so can we all just take a moment to appreciate how flippin’ beautiful the packaging is?

The box is perfect to keep a hold of for storing bits and bobs in at a later date and the tin lid with the beautiful bow puts the cherry on the top of an already awesome cake. Not only do you get complimentary gorgeous Jo Malone matches they also spray the tissue paper in perfume, which if like me you are totally overcome with joy at lovely gimmicks like this you will totally understand the joy it brings me.

The candle itself is black, which just makes me love it even more. Say goodbye to the soot stained ivory candles that just end up looking messy no matter how nice they smell – and the flame burns so perfectly – gah, I’m gushing!! Can you tell how much I love it?

Even just writing this all down makes me feel happy! So yes, candles bring me joy and lots of it. So much so, that I’m seriously considering buying the matching perfume because to be frank, it smells like god in a bottle. At £100 I’m going to have to save for a while, but it’s bloody worth it.
